The Milford Computer Data Center was part of General Motors’ ambitious effort to consolidate 23 critical data centres into just two. The new center includes approximately 111,000 square feet of data halls and support space, 19,000 square feet of administration space, and a 6,900 square foot, pre-engineered blowdown treatment support building.

The Data Center gives GM all the tools needed to respond to disruptions at manufacturing plants, engineering sites, and sales operations, and also monitors real-time energy consumption via the building’s energy management system. Its key features include high speed backbone, staging, network, chiller/mechanical, substations, and electrical rooms.

In keeping with GM’s commitment to community and environment, the building targeted ambitious energy-saving goals and was designed using sustainable LEED principles, earning Gold certification with 64 LEED credits and no appeals. IBI Group assisted the construction manager in documenting the required LEED on-line credit evidence.
